– Meet the stars of the Scooter World Championships, the skateboarding competition and the BMX and Breaking Olympic qualifiers

– All the finals will be streamed live on Youtube

With just three days to go until the MUS kicks off in the capital, more than 500 athletes are already preparing their BMX, Skate, Scooters and their best Breaking moves to flood Madrid with sport and urban culture. In this fourth edition, the Madrid Urban Sports presents a frenetic competition schedule from Friday 16 June to Sunday 18.

The Scooter World Champions

Scootering will invade the MUS parks to offer the most important competition of the discipline: the scootering world championships. More than 200 athletes in Men, Women and Junior categories will show what they are capable of on the skateboard in Central Park and Street Plaza.

The Scooter Men Street crown is looking for a new owner as Frenchman Jonathan Perroni will not be participating in the world championships. His compatriot, Lucas Di Meglio is the favourite to be crowned World Champion again, as he did in 2021 with one of the most spectacular rounds of scootering in living memory.

Di Meglio will not have it easy, Guifré Obradors, the rider from Navàs, is ready to take the crown in his country and show that national scootering is growing year by year. Matis Neyroud, with his manuals and flips, hopes to conquer the judges and also, why not, take the champion’s medal.

In Scooter Park Men, a British duel for the crown is expected, while Jamie Hull wants to retain the title he won at the last World Championships, his compatriot Jordan Clark wants to conquer Central Park again. France, captained by Esteban Clott, one of the jewels of the moment, will be looking for his country to do the double and take both the park and street crowns.

In the women’s category, Mia Catalano is one of the favourite names on the podium in both disciplines. The American rider is one of the most versatile skaters on skateboard and dominates both Street Plaza and Central Park.

Who are the skate stars

Skateboarding will take over the streetplaza on Saturday 17th, where the best national and international skaters will skate on a track made for the occasion. In order to pay tribute to the city, the streetplaza has two sports identical to places where Madrid’s skaters usually practice their tricks: the Congreso de los Diputados and the Juan Bravo bridge. A total of 45 riders will duel in the Men, Women and Junior categories, a show that is sure to impress the audience and which will also feature the participation of true legends such as Madrid’s Danny León, who will be making his debut at the MUS after missing the three previous editions due to injury. Facundo Quiroga, Adriel Parmisano, Adrien Bulard and Iván Monteiro will be able to make it difficult for him.

Virginia Fortes, who has also just recovered from injury, wants to repeat the taste of victory she enjoyed in 2021 as long as she is not prevented by Olympian Roos Zwesloot, who finished fifth in Tokyo 2020, or Giovana Santos, a tough nut to crack.

The favourites for BMX victory

The bikes will fly over Park Central in a UCI-backed competition on a C1 course, with 70 athletes competing in three categories: Men, Women and Junior.

It’s going to be a tough one, as Daniel Dhers, the Olympic silver medallist in Tokyo, is coming to put his wheels down and take home the win. The legend will be battling against the young promises who want to dethrone him, such as Jude Jones. The same goes for the girls, QueenSaray Villegas, who will be without her sister after an injury, will be determined to win. However, she will be up against Teresa Fernández-Miranda, the top national BMX rider, who is sure to make her sweat. Nobody’s podium is guaranteed with the high level of competition in this category.

Great national participation in the Breaking championship

Breaking is at one of the best moments in its history. Next year it will make its debut as a sport at the Olympic Games in Paris and this has generated great interest in the national and international scene. So much so that many of Breaking’s best athletes have opted to continue competing for a place at the Olympics.

Madrid Urban Sports will host one of the stops of the Breaking for Gold International Series, a competition that awards very important points supported by the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) and the Spanish Federation of Dance Sport. We will be able to enjoy top level international athletes who will fight in intense battles with some of the best Bboys such as Grazy, JohnnyFox, Xak, Nerup, Lil Dani or Rooty and the best Spanish Bgirls such as Ana ‘Furia’, Raw Law, Sweet Spicy, Spooky, or Bgirl Lola, one of the new promises of breaking who is coming on strong.
