  • All the Olympic disciplines of urban sport will be represented at the second edition of Madrid Urban Sports, which returns to the city on 10, 11 and 12 June 2022.
  • After the great success of 2021 with more than 48,000 spectators, Madrid Urban Sports is confirmed as one of the city’s benchmark events within the framework of Madrid Capital of Sport 2022.

Madrid will once again be the epicentre of urban sports at the highest international level and urban culture on 10, 11 and 12 June 2022. A city event that will once again be open to the public.

Madrid Urban Sports is preparing for its second edition after a spectacular staging in its first year. More than 48,000 people enjoyed the best international urban sports competitions, packed with Olympic athletes and accompanied by great icons of each of the sporting disciplines.

The citizens of Madrid have an appointment with great athletes such as Daniel Dhers, silver medalist in Tokyo 2021 and fourth in the last edition, or Angelo Caro, skateboarding champion in 2021 here in Madrid and Olympic finalist in skateboarding. The great Peruvian talent will return to Madrid Rio-Matadero to defend his gold medal. Other great athletes such as Virginia Fortes, Nick Bruce, Lucas Di Meglio or Jamie Hull will be the big names to follow in this second edition of Madrid Urban Sports.

The councillor responsible for sport, Sofía Miranda, highlighted the council’s commitment “to bringing sporting activity to young people through new urban trends”, and said that “having Olympic references in different disciplines is one of the best examples to encourage young people in the capital to pursue their dreams”.

Skateboarding will be the standard-bearer of an event packed with top-level competitions. The urban sport par excellence will be accompanied by a wide range of modalities: BMX, Scooter and Breakdance will be the disciplines that will be represented in Madrid Río-Matadero.

Women’s sport will also be widely represented in 2022. The people of Madrid will be able to enjoy the best women’s BMX, Skateboard and Breaking competitions.

First class facilities

Once again the two main stages will be one of the main attractions of Madrid Urban Sports.

The Central Park with ramps over four metres high will host the BMX and scooter competitions. The street plaza will host the skateboard and scooter street competitions.

3×3 basketball has also confirmed its return to Matadero, where great talents in this form of basketball will give their best to be crowned champions.

Victor Casanovas, director of Madrid Urban Sports: “We are in the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and Madrid Urban Sports has become a must-attend event for the best athletes in urban sports”.

Sport and urban culture: the perfect combination

Urban sports and urban culture are two concepts that go hand in hand and one of the keys to Madrid Urban Sports was the wide range of sport, art and music on offer to all attendees in 2021.

Freestyle battles, concerts by artists from Madrid’s urban scene and the best urban art will once again be the great attractions that will complement the sporting competitions.

The MUS is once again a great commitment by the capital to become the epicentre of sport and urban culture and has the support of the Madrid City Council and the Business Forum in an effort by the institutions to help position the city as a benchmark for world sport in the run-up to the World Capital of Sport in 2022.
