- One month after participating in the MUS, Grazy and Lola win Red Bull BC One Spain 2023

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Familiar faces from
Madrid Urban Sports are the new champions of
Red Bull BC One Spain 2023. They are BGirl
Lola and BBoy
Grazy, the same two who impressed the audience at the Urban Stage a month ago and whose characteristics are very different.
On July 8, the Red Bull BC One Spain 2023 took place, where the best 16 B-Boys and 8 B-Girls of our country battled in the Plaza de Juan Goytisolo, at the foot of the Reina Sofia Museum, to become national champions and get the pass to the World Final of Red Bull BC One Spain 2023 in October. Those who managed to overcome the challenge and take home the gold medal were Lola and Grazy.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6530" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Lola is a
young breaking prodigy who has been practicing for
only three years, although she has competed in other disciplines since she was a child. "The warrior Princess" has well-defined goals and makes her presence felt.
She is part of a
new generation of breakers who have grown up in the digital era, which makes it easy for her to
learn quickly and keep up to date with the new steps that are the most popular.
At only 15 years old and with a bright future ahead of her, Lola is sure to step on many more stages, and perhaps, more than one will be Olympic.
These are some of the questions we asked her:[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
You only started Breaking three years ago and you are already competing in some of the most important championships. How did you start?
- I can transmit what I feel through my movements. Also, I'm constantly evolving, because you never stop learning and never stop taking new steps. But the most important thing for me is how it makes me feel, the smile I get every time I step in the room. Since I was little I have danced other styles: Hiphop, Ballet, Afro... but three years ago, I saw that there was a break training near my house and I went to see it. I was impressed! The first thing that struck me was the good atmosphere in the room!
Not only do you put a lot of enthusiasm into everything, but you are also very talented, we have seen you competing in breaking, combining it with martial arts, djing and studying. Has this given you the tools to face the breaking battles?
- I think that everything you do in your life gives you something. By combining many things I have to learn to have a cool mind to be able to do them well and, most importantly, enjoy them. This helps me a lot when facing a battle, because it is a key point when competing. I believe that everything I do pays off in some way and the disciplines help each other. The most important thing for me is to know that whatever I do I'm going to enjoy it, because what I do I do because I'm passionate about it!
Now that Breaking will be the first Olympic Games in Paris 2024, do you see yourself competing in the Olympics?
- I remember when I was little I wrote on the wall: "win the olympics" and I know that whatever I set my mind to, I will achieve it. If not in these Olympics, then in the next ones, but you will see me there, I assure you![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6532" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Grazy is a completely opposite profile to Lola. He has been dedicated to breaking for many years and has
accumulated many medals and titles, living a great part of the evolution of this sport. He started dancing in the streets of Madrid in Nuevos Ministerios, in Colón or in the Metro and throughout his career he has danced in crowded stages with all kinds of audiences.
While Lola competes to continue to grow, Grazy continues to work hard with the aim of
putting the finishing touch to his achievements with the Paris Olympics.
He told us some very interesting details about his career:[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
How are you facing the Madrid Urban Sports? What is the goal of participating in this competition?
In last year's MUS, in June of last year was the championship that I decided to leave everything to compete because I had a very strong international career from 2006 to 2013, and from 2013 to last year's MUS in 2022 I was still competing but I opted for the more artistic field, for the performing arts, to work with Circo del Sol and other companies.
And last year I saw that this was very serious and I thought that either I would focus on competing or this path was going to be complicated, so my super revelation was last year's MUS, which is why I face it with great affection, because it was the event that clicked in my head.
You are part of the first generations that have been forced to adapt and evolve but without having a reference, something that the young bboys and bgirls of today do have and will have, how have you lived this generational change and have you managed to stay at the top?
Actually, in our generation there were no phones, no smartphones, no internet, no platforms like Youtube as they are now. So our way of learning was basically very precarious, it was many, many hours on the floor, I remember that we would leave class and we would be there from 5 to 12 at night, it was a lot of self-research, a lot of self-knowledge, and a lot of listening.
We had a VHS video, a tape for the whole group and we would play it back and maybe after 6-8 months you would come back and try to copy as much or as much as you could and then try to change it as much as possible, because in our time copying was frowned upon, you could get into a lot of trouble, even fights. It was a very difficult time for information and learning.
Now I see a child who in five years can improve what we improved in 15 years, but it is also true that it gives you a unique style, because now dancers who look very similar there is a lot of standard because it is created by the people who win, and as everyone watches it on Youtube for example at home almost live they try to copy the people who are at that moment in the wave, but in my time you could see and clearly differentiate the countries or even the cities.
Did you ever think that you would be fighting for the Olympics by doing Breaking?
I've been competing all my life for 20 years and I've seen the transformations and processes that Breaking has gone through. The truth is that we already had a very well-established scene with big world competitions, it's not that now the Olympic Games are coming in and competitions are starting to take place, there were already big events. Now this path, let's say more sporting, I think it has been a surprise for everyone, and personally I am very excited about it, because this sporting path can bring great things and great benefits, both in terms of visibility and in terms of creating systems. At no time did I think about fighting for the Olympics, it was something that never even crossed our minds.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

-WDSF Breaking for Gold and C1 BMX UCI Park handed out significant points that will determine the representatives for the Olympic Games
- The first place Breaking winner received 400 points and the BMX winner 200 points
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]At the last edition of
Madrid Urban Sports held from
16 to 18 June in the city of Madrid, there were two sports that the public couldn't take their eyes off:
BMX and breaking. Here we found the best riders and breakers on the international scene, and not by pure chance, but because in these sports valuable points were being handed out with a view to the next Olympics in
Paris 2024, and the better the result, the greater the probability of becoming a future Olympic athlete.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6489" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]Starting with Breaking, the competition was called Breaking For Gold International Series and was under the auspices of the
Spanish Dance Sport Federation and
WDSF Breaking for Gold. More than 200 Bboys and BGirls challenged each other during the weekend in an OPEN competition that also had multiple lower categories such as
Kids, Junior, SUB 21 and BGirl Youth.
In the top male and female categories, first there was a Pre-Selection, then a top
64, top
32, top
16 and finally a
top 8 in a very close final that filled the Urban Stage. The lower categories followed this final, guaranteeing the audience a continuous spectacle.
The
Breaking For Gold International Series had more participation than expected and a level that surprised everyone present, with appearances for example of the
Bboys Victor and Amir, top exponents of Breaking worldwide that although they started late in the Olympic race, as many took advantage of the MUS to get the necessary score to qualify for the
OQS.
The points to be obtained for the Olympics depend on the category of the competition; competing in the BfG World Series is not the same as competing in the BfG Challenge Series. The competition that took place at the Mus, the
BfG International Series, is an intermediate category of these two, lower than a World Series but higher than a Challenge Series. First place got
400 points, second
300, third
260, fourth
200, fifth
160, sixth
152,... and so it goes on proportionally until the
129th place who got the last 10 points.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6491" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]A
C1 Park circuit took place in
BMX, under the auspices of the
Real Federación Española de Ciclismo and the UCI (
International Cycling Union). Around 80 athletes took part in the different categories: male, female and junior.
Central Park was witness to the most daring acrobatics, flying over ramps up to 4 metres high. These elite athletes put their necks on the line for a place at next year's
Olympic Games.
The
UCI C1 category gives points for the international ranking. In any C1 competition, points are distributed to the
top 10 finishers, with a scale ranging from 200 points for the first to 10 points for the tenth, similar to Breaking. These points are added to the individual ranking of each rider and then for the Olympics the score of the two best riders of each country is added and from there comes the world ranking by country, which is the one that counts to qualify for the Olympics.
So,
Madrid Urban Sports was a crucial stop for those interested in becoming future Olympic athletes, who will continue to give their all until they achieve what for many is the dream of their lives.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

Lucas Di Meglio sat back on his throne with two rounds and three perfect bestricks, proving that the Frenchman is a cut above any rider when he gets on a scooter. Di Meglio was in contention for the crown with
Guifré Obradors, who took a well-deserved silver, the first for the Spanish scootering delegation. Jordan Clark the 5th
One of the best
Scootering Park finals in living memory saw Britain's
Jordan Clark take his
5th world championship. Clark had two rounds of near excellence, in which he never seemed to get off the skateboard. Fellow Brit,
Jayden Sharman tried to make Clark abdicate his throne with a near perfect round. But, sadly, Clark's legacy still has years of history left in it.
Matec Pekarek took bronze, a surprise that left big names in scootering such as
Jamie Hull and
Esteban Clot off the podium.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title="SWC Park Men Final" color="blue" align="center" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dz_XMsUbYO4Q"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
Girls just wanna go Scootering
For the first time, the MUS hosted the
women's Street and
Park Scootering, demonstrating that women's scootering continues to evolve more and more and is moving towards becoming more professional.
The riders are not afraid of anything and are experts in both disciplines indistinctly, which makes it possible to see a variety of tricks in both parks.
The very young
Claire Parks, only 16 years old, won the crown in Central Park, after being the most solid rider in the final. She snatched the throne from
Rebeca Ortiz, who was unable to retain her title, as she was injured in the Street final.
Alexandra Madsen and
Mia Catalano completed the podium.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title="SWC Women Park Final" color="blue" align="center" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dz_XMsUbYO4Q"][vc_column_text]
Mia Catalano became only the second rider in history to win the scootering street crown, the American rider took more risks in the Bestricks round, ironed them out and Josephine took silver.
Sophie Molyneux took bronze after making her Scootering Street debut. The British rider, who had previously only done park, put in a brilliant performance in the Street plaza. A few more competitions and Sophie will be talking a lot in both parks.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title="SWC Women Street Final" color="blue" align="center" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DxsuFpw0mhns"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6452" img_size="large"][vc_single_image image="6454" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- Hot Wheels' partnership with the event promotes emerging talent in Skateboarding, Scootering, BMX and Breaking

Mattel's brand,
HotWheels, has once again made its mark in the world of urban sports with the
SuperChargers at
Madrid Urban Sports. The collaboration between the brand and
Urban World Series has been a great success to promote the junior categories of different disciplines of the event in
Skate, Scooter, BMX and Breaking; promoting young talent and the values of urban sport in Olympic disciplines.
From 16 to 18 June, Madrid Rio has become the perfect stage for young people aged between
6 and 14 to demonstrate their skills and abilities on wheels and on the track. Junior skateboard, scooter and BMX riders and the BBoys and BGirls came together in this world-class competition, where spectacle and excitement were guaranteed.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Urban Stage was witness to the future of national Breaking and hosted the Kids and Junior competition on the same floor that hours before had been trodden by the international Bboys and Bgirls who inspire these new and talented break dance talents. The youngest were very attentive to the movements of their idols to learn and replicate in their battles some of the best moves to win the gold medal.
In
Junior Female Bgirl Miniali took the victory in the last battle against
Pau, and
Bgirl Camino completed the podium getting the third place. In the
Junior Men it was
Bboy Samuel who took the gold medal against
Bboy Grummy who took the silver and
Bboy Teo the bronze. In Kids there were also some fantastic battles on Sunday afternoon that proclaimed
Bboy Ryu the winner,
Bboy Gabri second and
Bboy Samuray third.
In the last
U21 category
Bboy Lukas showed his great talent in the battle against
Bboy Gizmou and
Bboy Amor who came first, second and third respectively. A great evening of finals to bring the curtain down on the Urban Stage with the new generations who are coming on strong and who are sure to have a very promising future ahead of them.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="6369" img_size="large"][vc_single_image image="6379" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="6371" img_size="large"][vc_single_image image="6377" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="6373" img_size="large"][vc_single_image image="6375" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Regarding the Scootering World Championship, the world champions in

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Madrid Río bids farewell to the fourth edition of the MUS, which has already become one of the most important urban events on an international level.
68,300 people were thrilled during the five days of competition in one of the best sporting events in living memory: Scooter World Championships, BMX and Breaking Olympic qualifiers and a Skate competition with the best international riders. 5 days of competition, 9 finals broadcast live on teledeporte and in more than 60 countries.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Scooter puts on a show that brings it close to the Olympics
The scooter world championships have been the great showcase of the
4th edition, where
200 athletes have fought for the winner's crown:
Mia Catalano and
Lucas Di Meglio in Scooter Street and
Claire Parks and
Jordan Clark in Scooter Park have been the winners of these world championships.
The Spanish
Guifré Obradors, has been proclaimed runner-up in the Scooter Street World Championship after an arduous battle against the French
Lucas Di Meglio in the Bestricks round, the Spanish rider showed an unbeatable control of the scooter that kept the thousand people who were watching the final live in suspense.
An impeccable management by the organization culminates the five-day calendar in which the event has contained practices, qualifiers, semi-finals and a total of 12 finals of the disciplines of
Skate, Scooter, BMX and Breaking that have had the participation of true legends and new promises of urban sports and has been broadcast live on
YouTube,
Teledeporte and distributed in more than
60 countries.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6317" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]
This is how the competitions went
The Urban Stage was enlivened all morning by the Madrid Rio crowd that filled the entire avenue of the stage and by the athletes who, despite not having qualified for the grand final, demonstrated the deep-rooted values of urban sports by cheering and living the battles of the
Breaking for Gold International Series and celebrating the spectacular victories of
Bgirl Riko and
Bboy Victor after rounds of impossible steps on the mat.
In the
UCI C1 BMX, the crowds were out in force on Sunday afternoon to see the best riders flying over Central Park. The rain forced the final to stop for a few minutes but the crowd waited for the storm to subside to continue enjoying this epic final. The riders proved that the wait was worth it and that on the track not everyone has the courage to perform tricks at great heights, as
Jiaqi Sub and
Jude Jones proved to be the undisputed winners of a very tight final.
Skateboarding also put on a show in the StreetPlaza.
Ivan Monteiro and
Roos Zwesloot were the winners of the competition where impressive tricks were performed.
Virginia Fortes took silver in a competition that heralded her return to the highest level of skateboarding after recovering from the injury that kept her sidelined for a year.
Brandon Valjalo and
Douwe Macaré completed the Skate Men's podium after nailing the last bestrick of the round.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6319" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]
The city of Madrid enjoys the future Olympic modalities
Parallel activities pushed the boundaries of the MUS and captivated the younger audience with Nil Ojeda's
Milfshakes event, which attracted an enthusiastic crowd. In addition, the Ignacio Echevarría SkatePark in Madrid became the stage for daily
Cash for Tricks challenges, where participants demonstrated their skills and received a financial reward for every trick that impressed. But that wasn't all, they were also treated to a vibrant drill concert by urban culture idols
Nickzzy and Rakeem, who wowed the crowd.
The public went home satisfied with the diversity of options at the event and surprised by the excitement experienced in the competitions where international athletes competed to the limit trying to return home with a gold medal around their necks.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6321" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

-Competitions, music, markets and activities make up the free urban festival that has been set up on the black esplanade of Madrid Río
- The event takes place from 16 to 18 June, with the main event on Sunday with the finals
The City of Madrid is hosting this weekend the Madrid Urban Sports, the extreme competition event that you can't miss. Skateboards, scooters, BMX and breakdancers from the world's elite, and no exaggeration, as there is no more and no less than a scooter world cup and qualifying competitions for next year's Olympic Games in Paris.
In case you still haven't heard, as well as two huge stages where the competitions never stop, you'll find a market with all the urban essence, where you can buy clothes, shoes, skates and much more.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6282" img_size="large" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]Are there activities for children? Of course there are. There are HotWheels circuits to try out their Finguerboards, which is like skateboarding, but in miniature size using your fingers. For those who already have a scooter or skateboard at home, we have a mini ramp and a Wave for them to practice as much as they want. And if you're still hungry for more, you can enjoy the Urban Art area where artists draw beautiful murals with spray paint every day. The little ones can try their hand at art in the kids' workshop, and maybe if they try it here, the walls at home will be safe.
If you were looking for a plan for this weekend, here it is, and it's free. We'll be waiting for you at the Explanada negra in Madrid Río.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6285" img_size="large" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- MUS pushes boundaries and performs a Cash4Tricks at the Skatepark Ignacio Echevarría in Madrid
- Renowned drill artists drive hundreds of people wild at a free concert on the Urban Stage
The temperature is rising in Madrid Rio as the weekend approaches with a Friday of qualifiers and semi-finals.
This afternoon all the excitement of the key competitions for the World Scooter Championships and the Olympic qualifiers moved to the Ignacio Echevarría SkatePark, close to the event, where a
Movistar Cash4Tricks open to the public took place, with
€800 in prizes for the best tricks pulled. The competition was divided into two modules: the first on the handrail and box and the second on the downhill rail.
The skatepark was full of skaters eager to fill their pockets with money, something that was achieved by those who surprised the jury the most with tricks, such as the South African
Brandon Valjalo, who also competes in the Mus, who landed the best tricks of the afternoon,
Sergio Muñoz with a very clean flip nosemanual nollie flip out, and the Costa Rican
Mariano Alfaro with a flip frontside feeble and a perfect fakie 270 frontside boardslide.
After much excitement and constant cheering, the crowd and riders moved to the
Urban Stage where
Rakeem and Nickzzy performed a free concert. San Mames and No Toy en Gente were sung at the top of their lungs and the artists couldn't have left more grateful after a very welcoming experience.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6180" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

Paris 2024.
After the starting gun, Friday will be packed with qualifying competitions in Scootering and BMX.
The last to arrive at Madrid Rio: Bboys and Bgirls from all over the world and Skaters such as
Danny Leon,
Ivan Monteiro, Roos Zwesloot and Virginia Fortes will enter the MUS during the afternoon to test out their playgrounds.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6169" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]

- The fourth edition of the most important national urban sports event will host more than 480 athletes.
- Daniel Dhers, Mia Catalano and Xak have been the visible faces of the athletes to kick off this edition.
Madrid will be full of skateboards, BMX, scooters and the best breaking moves with the fourth edition of
Madrid Urban Sports, one of the most internationally recognised urban sports events.
In this
fourth edition, which as always is based in
Madrid Rio, will be held from 16 to 18 June with a line-up of high-level sporting competitions:
the men's, women's and junior Scootering World Championships, the Olympic Breaking and BMX qualifiers and an incredible skateboarding competition.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The MUS has established itself in the city of Madrid, a free event that allows young people to get closer to urban sports. The presentation of this edition of the MUS was done through a streaming of
Nil Ojeda, in the black esplanade with a fabulous Cash4tricks where skaters and scooter riders of the MUS fought for more than 1,200 € in cash.
Victor Casanovas, general director of the MUS, emphasised that
"these urban sports are becoming more and more present and more important. We are one year away from the Paris Olympic Games, which will give them a greater boost. Madrid Urban Sports 2023 is the edition with the greatest sporting impact to date. It is the only international event that this year will have the same number of male and female prizes and both genders will be represented in all its events. The aim of this event is also to offer the new generations an alternative to football. These sportsmen and women are different, they want to win a medal but if they don't get it, they will embrace the winner before anyone else, it is about community and being part of a group that conventional sports do not share. It's about community and being part of a group that conventional sports don't share. It's one of the best examples of the values of these disciplines."
A city event open to the public that seeks not to lose the essence of the practice of urban sports, sports that are practised in the street and that can be enjoyed by everyone who passes by.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Urban sports conquer the Olympics
Madrid will host more than 480 athletes from 45 different nationalities fighting for a unique dream: to be able to reach the Olympics from the streets of Madrid. Therefore, this year, to connect the city with the event, there are two spots in the street plaza inspired by the streets of Madrid where the Madrid skate scene usually tries its tricks: the planters of the Plaza del Congreso de Diputados and the bridge of Juan Bravo.
Daniel Dhers, considered one of the
leading exponents of BMX, won silver at
Tokyo 2020 in the premiere of urban disciplines at the Olympic Games.
Dhers says it was a dream come true to debut and win silver with his sport and is already thinking about Paris:
"I think it's going to be incredible, to feel the warmth of the public that we didn't have in Tokyo, I'm preparing to get on the podium," says the athlete. Daniel, who is almost 38 years old, has stated that "Paris will be my last dance with the bike, the dream retirement, after so much effort I leave BMX where it deserves, in the Olympics".[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6153" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]For his part,
Xak, number 1 in the national ranking and 9th in the Breaking world ranking, is looking forward to his debut, as is breaking, in Paris 2024. For the Cordovan it would be a dream come true as he left his profession, law, for his great passion: dancing. Xak was very happy to participate in the MUS again:
"For me, Paris will be my first Games and it is a source of pride and satisfaction, but above all it is a great surprise for this sporting world, which is completely different to what we are used to. Before I did things on my own and for my group and now I feel that there are a lot of people represented both from my country and my scene and it is an opportunity for my sport and discipline to grow".
Scootering, one of the most disruptive disciplines in urban sports, is the only one still waiting for its ticket to the Olympic Games. In Paris, one of the cradles of this discipline, an exhibition will be held. For the time being, Madrid and the MUS, in this fourth edition, will host the most important event for all skate lovers: the Scootering World Championships in Street & Park modalities. More than 200 athletes will fight to be crowned Scootering World Champions.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Carmelo Paniagua, president of the Real Federación Española de Patinaje, said:
"I thank SevenMila for this world reference event and I value the merit it has. If there is something that is growing in the world of sport, it is that we have been able to keep up with what society wants, and what it wants now is urban sport. In my Federation, of the 11 sports that make up the Federation, 6 are practised in the street. We have discovered that these athletes have the same values that the Olympics believes its athletes should have."
Mia Catalano is one of the most important and versatile representatives of women's scootering, as she practises both modalities indistinctly. Catalano hopes to get on the podium in both disciplines
"for me it would be a dream, I love Central Park and the street plaza, I just think about competing", she says. The American adds that "I love this sport and I don't mind at all being the only girl competing with boys, my passion is scootering and passion never stops".[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The fourth edition of the MUS kicks off with an eye on the 2024 Olympic Games, four days of frenetic competition open to the public, from 16 to 18 June, which becomes an ode to urban sports.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- Meet the stars of the Scooter World Championships, the skateboarding competition and the BMX and Breaking Olympic qualifiers
- All the finals will be streamed live on Youtube
With just three days to go until the MUS kicks off in the capital, more than 500 athletes are already preparing their BMX, Skate, Scooters and their best Breaking moves to flood Madrid with sport and urban culture. In this fourth edition, the Madrid Urban Sports presents a frenetic competition schedule from Friday 16 June to Sunday 18.
The Scooter World Champions
Scootering will invade the MUS parks to offer the most important competition of the discipline: the scootering world championships. More than 200 athletes in Men, Women and Junior categories will show what they are capable of on the skateboard in Central Park and Street Plaza.
The Scooter Men Street crown is looking for a new owner as Frenchman Jonathan Perroni will not be participating in the world championships. His compatriot, Lucas Di Meglio is the favourite to be crowned World Champion again, as he did in 2021 with one of the most spectacular rounds of scootering in living memory.
Di Meglio will not have it easy,
Guifré Obradors, the rider from Navàs, is ready to take the crown in his country and show that national scootering is growing year by year. Matis Neyroud, with his manuals and flips, hopes to conquer the judges and also, why not, take the champion's medal.
In Scooter Park Men, a British duel for the crown is expected, while
Jamie Hull wants to retain the title he won at the last World Championships, his compatriot
Jordan Clark wants to conquer Central Park again. France, captained by
Esteban Clott, one of the jewels of the moment, will be looking for his country to do the double and take both the park and street crowns.
In the women's category,
Mia Catalano is one of the favourite names on the podium in both disciplines. The American rider is one of the most versatile skaters on skateboard and dominates both Street Plaza and Central Park.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6081" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6085" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6083" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6089" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6087" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Who are the skate stars
Skateboarding will take over the streetplaza on Saturday 17th, where the best national and international skaters will skate on a track made for the occasion. In order to pay tribute to the city, the streetplaza has two sports identical to places where Madrid's skaters usually practice their tricks: the Congreso de los Diputados and the Juan Bravo bridge. A total of 45 riders will duel in the Men, Women and Junior categories, a show that is sure to impress the audience and which will also feature the participation of true legends such as Madrid's
Danny León, who will be making his debut at the MUS after missing the three previous editions due to injury.
Facundo Quiroga, Adriel Parmisano, Adrien Bulard and Iván Monteiro will be able to make it difficult for him.
Virginia Fortes, who has also just recovered from injury, wants to repeat the taste of victory she enjoyed in 2021 as long as she is not prevented by Olympian
Roos Zwesloot, who finished fifth in Tokyo 2020, or Giovana Santos, a tough nut to crack.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6091" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6097" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6099" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6101" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6103" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/5"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6095" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6093" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6105" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
The favourites for BMX victory
The bikes will fly over Park Central in a UCI-backed competition on a C1 course, with 70 athletes competing in three categories: Men, Women and Junior.
It's going to be a tough one, as
Daniel Dhers, the Olympic silver medallist in Tokyo, is coming to put his wheels down and take home the win. The legend will be battling against the young promises who want to dethrone him, such as
Jude Jones. The same goes for the girls,
QueenSaray Villegas, who will be without her sister after an injury, will be determined to win. However, she will be up against
Teresa Fernández-Miranda, the top national BMX rider, who is sure to make her sweat. Great national participation in the Breaking championship
Breaking is at one of the best moments in its history. Next year it will make its debut as a sport at the Olympic Games in Paris and this has generated great interest in the national and international scene. So much so that many of Breaking's best athletes have opted to continue competing for a place at the Olympics.
Madrid Urban Sports will host one of the stops of the Breaking for Gold International Series, a competition that awards very important points supported by the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) and the Spanish Federation of Dance Sport. We will be able to enjoy top level international athletes who will fight in intense battles with some of the best Bboys such as
Grazy, JohnnyFox, Xak, Nerup, Lil Dani or Rooty and the best Spanish Bgirls such as
Ana 'Furia', Raw Law, Sweet Spicy, Spooky, or Bgirl Lola, one of the new promises of breaking who is coming on strong.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6119" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6121" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6117" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6123" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/5"][vc_single_image image="6125" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

- More than 30 athletes and 200 attendees witnessed the exciting second edition of the Movistar Open Qualifier
- Leyla León and Gabi Ferrero, won the place to participate in the fourth edition of the MUS
Madrid's skateboarding scene battled with their best tricks to win a spot to participate in
Madrid Urban Sports 2023. For the second year in a row, the
Movistar Open Qualifier took over the
SkatePlaza de Tetuán, one of the most emblematic places of the city and the Madrid skateboarding scene.
Two places for the MUS and more than 1,400 euros distributed in the two categories Men and Women were the main attractions of the qualifier, where more than 30 athletes with more than a hundred onlookers tried to iron out their best tricks to get cash and skate on the MUS StreetPlaza.
Leyla Leon won her spot for the MUS after being the most solid and consistent during the Open Qualifier. Leon, who landed flat tricks combined with a backside noseslide on the main kerb.
Cece Pacheco was the most spectacular and the skater who took the most risks with her two rounds, getting a well-deserved second place. The podium was closed by
Katherine Calderón.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6041" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]In the men's category, local skateboarder and Spanish representative for the Olympic qualifiers for Paris 2024 Street,
Gabi Ferrero was the winner in a hotly contested men's final. Handrail tricks like the
270 sw fs boardslide to fakie or the
bigspin fs boardslide within a very consistent round lifted
Ferrero to the first place.
Jabes Ramirez won the silver and the golden ticket for the Madrid Urban Sports, as
Gabi Ferrero was already invited to this competition.
Backside crooked nollie flip out and
backside feeble bigspin out were some of the jewels that
Jabes left us in his best round.
The podium was closed by the skater from Madrid '
Bolita', a regular in all national competitions and who with his backside
smithgrind and
bs suski got the coveted third place.
The second edition of the
Movistar Open Qualifier was a great success and has become one of the must-attend events for all skaters in Madrid. The number of athletes and the level of the competition show that skateboarding in Madrid is in very good health.
Everything is ready for the final phase at the Madrid Urban Sports
from the 16th to the 18th of June in Madrid Río. A free admission event where we hope to give the greatest show to the citizens of Madrid.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- For the first time, the urban competition will have women's competitions in each and every one of the modalities
- QueenSaray Villegas (BMX), Mia Catalano (Scooter) and Lola (Breaking) tell their experiences and goals for the MUS first hand
Madrid Urban Sports, known for its prominent role in the world of urban sports, is transforming into a stage where gender equality takes centre stage. The inclusion of women's competitions in all disciplines elevates the grandeur of the event and is a major milestone in the fight for the recognition and visibility that women deserve in the fast-paced world of urban sports.
Female athletes have fought tirelessly for this recognition and finally their courage, effort and skill are reflected on the international stage. Every trick and every jump is a reminder of the strength and passion that defies stereotypes and social expectations imposed on women.
We will be able to enjoy them in competitions such as the
Scooter World Championships, the UCI BMX Freestyle C1 International Championships, the Breaking For Gold International Series and international skateboarding competitions.
This major step towards gender equality in sport is of the utmost importance after having fought for the recognition and visibility they deserve in the field of urban sports. The inclusion of women's competitions in all disciplines at Madrid Urban Sports shows a commitment on the part of the organisers to encourage equal participation in these sports and to send a powerful message of inclusion and diversity in the world of sport. We were able to speak to some of the top female athletes ahead of the competition and here's how they are coming to Madrid Urban Sports:
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6015" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
QueenSaray Villegas is one of the BMX riders of the moment, the Colombian is only 19 years old and together with her twin Lizsurley, they are one of the great promises of the discipline in the female category:
Winning the MUS would mean being one step closer to the Olympic Games in terms of points. How do you prepare for this type of competition?
They are very important competitions and more than physically it is also mentally, the most important thing is to always be strong on both sides and always be focused on training and on the bike learning.
What advice would you give to young girls who want to follow in your footsteps in BMX Freestyle and pursue their sporting dreams?
The first and most important is to enjoy the bike, after that comes the issue of motivation, sometimes we have ups and downs because of tricks or moments of competition but the idea is to always be motivated to always be with the plan of fulfilling your dreams and day by day sowing good things to create something good in the end!
It is also good not to be well because it means that we are alive and we are living life but we have to enjoy the process and motivate ourselves to do amazing things every day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
Mia Catalano, one of the most versatile riders in scootering as she practices both scooter park and street.
You are one of the most versatile athletes in two scootering disciplines: park and street. Is your goal for the 2023 World Championships to reach the podium in both disciplines?
I would be very happy to take home a medal in both disciplines. It's something I've been working towards since the last World Championships in Argentina. It won't be easy, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
You got a second place in the first women's street world championships, what was that moment like for you?
Winning a medal at the first ever women's street world championships was an incredible experience. To be able to share the podium with my best friend and Ethic DTC teammate Josephine Zagorski was something I will never forget. After winning silver, this year I am very motivated and working hard to bring home another medal in Madrid. I hope it will be gold.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6018" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6020" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
Bgirl Lola is a breaking dancer who has only been doing this discipline for three years, although she has been competing in other disciplines since she was very young. The warrior Princess' has clear goals and is coming on strong:
You are only 15 years old, you started Breaking only three years ago and you are already competing in some of the most important championships with the best bboys and bgirls, evolving at a great speed, why breaking? How did you start?
Breaking is a way to express myself without words. I can transmit what I feel through my movements. Besides, I'm constantly evolving because you never stop learning and never stop getting new steps. That motivates me to keep dancing day by day. But the most important thing for me is how it makes me feel, the smile I get every time I step in the room.
Since I was little I have danced other styles: Hiphop, Ballet, Afro... but Breaking had never caught my attention. When we returned to Spain, three years ago, I saw that there was a Breaking training session near my house and I went to see it. I was impressed! The first thing that struck me was the good atmosphere in the room. Also, I loved the steps they were doing and I needed to learn them!
What are your goals for the Breaking For Gold International Series competition in Madrid?
For this competition I want to feel good dancing because I have changed and added a lot of new steps and it's the first time I'm going to try them in competition. The level is quite high, so I'm going to fight for it![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- Throughout the afternoon, boys and girls aged between 5 and 16 at the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid enjoyed Skateboarding and Breaking classes
- Every year, the Rafa Nadal Foundation cares for 100 children in vulnerable situations at its centre in Madrid, in the San Fermín neighbourhood
- The fourth edition of Madrid Urban Sports will be held from 16 to 18 June in Madrid Río
For the second year running, the
Rafa Nadal Foundation and Madrid Urban Sports have come together at Caja Mágica to carry out Skate and Breaking activities with children from the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid. The group of boys and girls aged between 5 and 16 enjoyed a different kind of afternoon learning to
skate and doing Breaking, one of the sports that will become an Olympic sport in
Paris 2024.
In its four editions, Madrid Urban Sports has become one of the most important sporting events in Europe. More than 400 athletes from 30 different countries will gather
from 16 to 18 June in Madrid Río to enjoy the
Scooter World Championships, competitions qualifying for the
BMX and Breaking Olympic Games and a
Skate competition.
Since its inception, one of the main objectives of the MUS has been to bring and promote urban sport to all children in the city of Madrid through social activities, an objective it shares with the
Rafa Nadal Foundation.
Kini González, one of the skateboard instructors who has been practising the sport for more than 20 years, says that "it is a luxury to see how children are increasingly interested in urban sports" and adds that "more and more children are practising it or that you see them a year later and they have told you that since you gave them the first class, they are practising it on their own, for me, it is a luxury to see how it grows every year".[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="5904" img_size="large" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]The Rafa Nadal Foundation uses sport as a tool for social transformation and promotes different activities so that children have access to all kinds of sporting and cultural disciplines.
The alliance between the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid and Madrid Urban Sports is strengthened for another year with the organisation and promotion of this activity aimed at the children of the centre within the sports facilities belonging to the foundation inside the Caja Mágica.
Urban sports are a healthy leisure option for children living in the neighbourhoods of large cities and offer enormous benefits for the development of children.
Rosa M. Molina, Director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid, assures us that "the entire team of professionals at the centre are delighted to organise this activity together with Madrid Urban Sports for another year at our facilities in the Magic Box and we know that the children love learning about these urban sports disciplines with which they feel very identified".
Both organisations will continue to work to raise awareness of this type of healthy alternative activities that children can take advantage of and learn a lot from.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- One month after participating in the MUS, Grazy and Lola win Red Bull BC One Spain 2023
- Meet the winners with exclusive interviews at Madrid Rio

- One month after participating in the MUS, Grazy and Lola win Red Bull BC One Spain 2023
- Meet the winners with exclusive interviews at Madrid Rio

Pau, and
Bgirl Camino completed the podium getting the third place. In the
Junior Men it was
Bboy Samuel who took the gold medal against
Bboy Grummy who took the silver and

Nobody's podium is guaranteed with the high level of competition in this category.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/4"][vc_single_image image="6108" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/4"][vc_single_image image="6110" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/4"][vc_single_image image="6112" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/4"][vc_single_image image="6114" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
