- For the first time, the urban competition will have women's competitions in each and every one of the modalities
- QueenSaray Villegas (BMX), Mia Catalano (Scooter) and Lola (Breaking) tell their experiences and goals for the MUS first hand
Madrid Urban Sports, known for its prominent role in the world of urban sports, is transforming into a stage where gender equality takes centre stage. The inclusion of women's competitions in all disciplines elevates the grandeur of the event and is a major milestone in the fight for the recognition and visibility that women deserve in the fast-paced world of urban sports.
Female athletes have fought tirelessly for this recognition and finally their courage, effort and skill are reflected on the international stage. Every trick and every jump is a reminder of the strength and passion that defies stereotypes and social expectations imposed on women.
We will be able to enjoy them in competitions such as the
Scooter World Championships, the UCI BMX Freestyle C1 International Championships, the Breaking For Gold International Series and international skateboarding competitions.
This major step towards gender equality in sport is of the utmost importance after having fought for the recognition and visibility they deserve in the field of urban sports. The inclusion of women's competitions in all disciplines at Madrid Urban Sports shows a commitment on the part of the organisers to encourage equal participation in these sports and to send a powerful message of inclusion and diversity in the world of sport. We were able to speak to some of the top female athletes ahead of the competition and here's how they are coming to Madrid Urban Sports:
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6015" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
QueenSaray Villegas is one of the BMX riders of the moment, the Colombian is only 19 years old and together with her twin Lizsurley, they are one of the great promises of the discipline in the female category:
Winning the MUS would mean being one step closer to the Olympic Games in terms of points. How do you prepare for this type of competition?
They are very important competitions and more than physically it is also mentally, the most important thing is to always be strong on both sides and always be focused on training and on the bike learning.
What advice would you give to young girls who want to follow in your footsteps in BMX Freestyle and pursue their sporting dreams?
The first and most important is to enjoy the bike, after that comes the issue of motivation, sometimes we have ups and downs because of tricks or moments of competition but the idea is to always be motivated to always be with the plan of fulfilling your dreams and day by day sowing good things to create something good in the end!
It is also good not to be well because it means that we are alive and we are living life but we have to enjoy the process and motivate ourselves to do amazing things every day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
Mia Catalano, one of the most versatile riders in scootering as she practices both scooter park and street.
You are one of the most versatile athletes in two scootering disciplines: park and street. Is your goal for the 2023 World Championships to reach the podium in both disciplines?
I would be very happy to take home a medal in both disciplines. It's something I've been working towards since the last World Championships in Argentina. It won't be easy, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
You got a second place in the first women's street world championships, what was that moment like for you?
Winning a medal at the first ever women's street world championships was an incredible experience. To be able to share the podium with my best friend and Ethic DTC teammate Josephine Zagorski was something I will never forget. After winning silver, this year I am very motivated and working hard to bring home another medal in Madrid. I hope it will be gold.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6018" img_size="large"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6020" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]
Bgirl Lola is a breaking dancer who has only been doing this discipline for three years, although she has been competing in other disciplines since she was very young. The warrior Princess' has clear goals and is coming on strong:
You are only 15 years old, you started Breaking only three years ago and you are already competing in some of the most important championships with the best bboys and bgirls, evolving at a great speed, why breaking? How did you start?
Breaking is a way to express myself without words. I can transmit what I feel through my movements. Besides, I'm constantly evolving because you never stop learning and never stop getting new steps. That motivates me to keep dancing day by day. But the most important thing for me is how it makes me feel, the smile I get every time I step in the room.
Since I was little I have danced other styles: Hiphop, Ballet, Afro... but Breaking had never caught my attention. When we returned to Spain, three years ago, I saw that there was a Breaking training session near my house and I went to see it. I was impressed! The first thing that struck me was the good atmosphere in the room. Also, I loved the steps they were doing and I needed to learn them!
What are your goals for the Breaking For Gold International Series competition in Madrid?
For this competition I want to feel good dancing because I have changed and added a lot of new steps and it's the first time I'm going to try them in competition. The level is quite high, so I'm going to fight for it![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- Throughout the afternoon, boys and girls aged between 5 and 16 at the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid enjoyed Skateboarding and Breaking classes
- Every year, the Rafa Nadal Foundation cares for 100 children in vulnerable situations at its centre in Madrid, in the San Fermín neighbourhood
- The fourth edition of Madrid Urban Sports will be held from 16 to 18 June in Madrid Río
For the second year running, the
Rafa Nadal Foundation and Madrid Urban Sports have come together at Caja Mágica to carry out Skate and Breaking activities with children from the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid. The group of boys and girls aged between 5 and 16 enjoyed a different kind of afternoon learning to
skate and doing Breaking, one of the sports that will become an Olympic sport in
Paris 2024.
In its four editions, Madrid Urban Sports has become one of the most important sporting events in Europe. More than 400 athletes from 30 different countries will gather
from 16 to 18 June in Madrid Río to enjoy the
Scooter World Championships, competitions qualifying for the
BMX and Breaking Olympic Games and a
Skate competition.
Since its inception, one of the main objectives of the MUS has been to bring and promote urban sport to all children in the city of Madrid through social activities, an objective it shares with the
Rafa Nadal Foundation.
Kini González, one of the skateboard instructors who has been practising the sport for more than 20 years, says that "it is a luxury to see how children are increasingly interested in urban sports" and adds that "more and more children are practising it or that you see them a year later and they have told you that since you gave them the first class, they are practising it on their own, for me, it is a luxury to see how it grows every year".[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="5904" img_size="large" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]The Rafa Nadal Foundation uses sport as a tool for social transformation and promotes different activities so that children have access to all kinds of sporting and cultural disciplines.
The alliance between the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid and Madrid Urban Sports is strengthened for another year with the organisation and promotion of this activity aimed at the children of the centre within the sports facilities belonging to the foundation inside the Caja Mágica.
Urban sports are a healthy leisure option for children living in the neighbourhoods of large cities and offer enormous benefits for the development of children.
Rosa M. Molina, Director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Madrid, assures us that "the entire team of professionals at the centre are delighted to organise this activity together with Madrid Urban Sports for another year at our facilities in the Magic Box and we know that the children love learning about these urban sports disciplines with which they feel very identified".
Both organisations will continue to work to raise awareness of this type of healthy alternative activities that children can take advantage of and learn a lot from.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- The urban sports competition would not be the same without contributions from Movistar, Hot Wheels, Blue Banana, Imagin and Bus for fun
- Partners not wanting to miss out include Maddgear, Centrano, Skatepro and 360bs
Madrid Urban Sports is approaching and brings with it a great bunch of emotions that will impress the Madrid urban scene. The positive impact this event will have on the city is undeniable, and even more inspiring is the commitment of the sponsors and partners, who tirelessly promote urban culture, making it possible for the streets to become a stage where boundaries disappear and creativity is unleashed.
Movistar & Hotwheels the unofficial MUS competitions
One of the main sponsors of Madrid Urban Sports is
Movistar, the well-known telephone company, which wanted to launch a cash4tricks, a competition for all those amateurs and experts who want to take a gamble and perform the most surprising trick and win as much money as possible from the 800€ at stake in each of the disciplines, which are BMX, Skate and Scooter. This is one of the most underground competitions in the urban world and has been going on for many years.
As if that wasn't enough, Movistar is also backing the Madrid scene with the MUS Open Qualifier on 10 June at the Tetuan skateplaza, where one ticket will be raffled in the men's category and another in the women's category to take part in the MUS.
Hot Wheels, the Mattel brand, is looking for new young talent with a nationwide competition: the Hotwheels superchargers. Children between the ages of 6 and 14 will showcase their talent on the MUS skateparks competing in Skate, Scootering Park and BMX Park disciplines. Hot Wheels makes it possible to encourage the participation of young talents and spread the passion for action sports. In addition, the brand will bring a market where you can try their new brand of fingerboard.
Blue Banana's Style
Blue Banana, who will not only dress all the staff, will have their clothing market set up and will also offer you the opportunity to try out their wave.
The event also has a mobility Partner,
Bus for fun, who will be chartering buses from various points to be able to come to the event. These are: Mérida, Oviedo, Segovia, Talavera de la Reina, Toledo, Valdemoro, Valencia, Valladolid, Bilbao, Burgos, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Jaén, Las Rozas and León.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="5791" img_size="large" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]
Imagin, an innovative financial institution, also supported the event as a sponsor, sharing the values of the urban community and its commitment to the development of events that promote talent and creativity.
In addition to the sponsors, the partners of Madrid Urban Sports have played an essential role in the realisation of the event. These are:
Maddgear the renowned scooter brand.
Centrano, a company dedicated to the creation of innovative urban spaces,
Skatepro, a shop specialised in sports equipment and
360bs, an events and communication agency.
As some of you can imagine, having sponsors and collaborators at an event like Madrid Urban Sports should not be underestimated. These companies not only provide financial and logistical resources, but also offer their experience and in this case, also their passion for urban culture. Without a doubt, the collaboration between organisers and companies is key to the success and realisation of Madrid Urban Sports and for this we are very grateful.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

From Madrid Streets to MUS:
Looking closely at the Street Plaza, the space that will host the scooter street and skate competitions, the public and riders will find a close relationship between the spaces and the city of Madrid. On the other hand, 'Bolita' achieved a perfect round, reaching the second place in the final ranking with a 360 flip from bank to bank and a backside smith on the rail on the downhill. Both finalists were up against international Olympians Angelo Caro, Eduardo Neves and Mauro Iglesias in the Madrid Urban Sports Skate Man semi-final.
Competing at the Madrid Urban Sports means being at the epicentre of skateboarding at an international level, surrounded by renowned skateboarders who have left their mark on the industry.
Danny Leon, Adriel Parmisano, Adrien Bulard, Facundo Quiroga, Roosz Swetzloot, Virginia Fortes and Daniela Terol are just some of the big names that will be present at this iconic event. Having the opportunity to share the track with these skateboarding legends not only allows the winners to gain invaluable experience, but also to gain recognition and prestige in the industry.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_single_image image="5747" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_column_text]
The planters of the Plaza del Congreso de los Diputados, one of the most skated spots on the Madrid skate scene, are represented in the MUS streetplaza. The architects of the street plaza didn't want to make it easy for the riders and have added a flatrail that crosses the module from side to side, a real challenge for the riders
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_single_image image="5749" img_size="large"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_column_text]
The second main module is a gap to hubba that evokes another of the capital's great spots: the Juan Bravo Bridge. But although skateboarders and scooter riders know it well, they shouldn't be overconfident, as this is the most complex and technical of the street plaza.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
But that's not all: A glass urn will preside over the street plaza. Will any scooter or skater riders surprise us on top of the urn?
The other big stage, the Central Park, is repaired for the smooth riding of the Scooter Park and BMX athletes.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="5770" img_size="large"][vc_column_text]A park for athletes to leave their best tricks: quarters up to four and a half meters high and a wallride that will give them enough speed to leave flashes of their quality in the 2 Jum boxes, spines, rainbow hubba and one of the biggest funxox in Europe.
Madrid Rio is getting ready to host the Parks of this edition of the MUS, two gigantic structures where the riders will risk everything to reach the MUS gold medal.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

Sky Brown dominates in the final of the Skateboard Park World Championships with a clear goal: Paris 2024.
-
Jagger Eaton takes men's gold ahead of Augusto Akio and Pedro Barros
Last Sunday, February 12th took place the final of the Olympic Qualifier and World Skateboarding Championship 2022 of Park category in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, which has also distributed some very valuable points to compete in the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024, where there are only 22 vacancies for the best riders on the board.
The Aljada Skatepark in Sharjah, a city near Dubai, has been the central focus of the world Skateboarding to walk to Paris, replacing the World Skate stop in Rio de Janeiro that was suspended a few months ago.
Sky already has another gold medal to keep alongside the bronze from Tokyo 2020
[gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="4685,4683"]
In the women's category, Sky Brown, was proclaimed world champion in Park with some movie rounds.
The Brit is on another level and won the gold after scoring maximum points against the other 7 competitors during her three rounds of the final with tricks like her kickflip indy grab, backside tailslide and a Frontside 540 that made the temperature rise even more in the desert of Sharjah.
The silver medal went to Japan's Kokona Hirak, only 14 years old, without a doubt an athlete with a spectacular present and future. She won over the jury with her fluid rounds full of transfers, slides and grinds like a very solid frontside overcrook in the big bowl curve and airs like a frontside 360 stalefish and a frontside stalefish to lip book.
Finally, the bronze medal also went to Japan, Yosozumi Sakura, 20, flowed through the bowl in a very polished style with tricks like a backside kickflip indy, Frontside Smithgrind on the big turn and a Backside 360 no grab.
Jagger adds gold medal to the bronze medal he won at Tokyo 2020
[gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="4693,4695"]
In the men's category, the gold medal was won by the American Jagger Eaton, who has been the only athlete to compete in both Street, finishing sixth, and Park. Jagger scored tricks of many carats as a giant Ollie to fakie house brand, Kickflip to backside lipslide and Backside 540 indy huge, among others, which made him rise as world champion.
The silver went to Augusto Akio, the Brazilian who is skating like the gods, flew over the skies of Sharjah with a perfect McTwist, a Backside Smithgrind 270 out in the curve, a trick within reach of few skaters on the planet, and a great frontside heelflip indy.
The bronze also went to Brazil, the silver medalist of Tokyo 2020, Pedro Barros. The athlete turned the bowl upside down from start to finish, with his power and characteristic style and tricks that bear his signature: the highest and longest Backside indy we have seen all week, Backside 540 and McTwist Indy that looked more like something out of a video game than real life.
One of the surprises of the final was Australia's Keegan Palmer, Tokyo 2020 gold medalist and Park designer of these World Finals, who came in last in 8th place after failing in all three of his rounds.
Naia Laso was the Spanish athlete to go farthest in PARK.
As for the Spanish athletes, Naia Laso went through to the semifinals and got a magnificent 13th place, staying only 5 places away from the final when she missed the Backside 540 of her round.
Meanwhile, Danny Leon, Julia Benedetti and Alain Kortabitarte could not get past the quarterfinals; and Peio Gonzalez, who is recovering from an elbow injury he suffered last month in the concentration with his tem ESP, could only compete walking to add some points, he stayed in the qualifiers. And finally, Jaime Mateu was out of the training camp due to injury…
Rewatch the finals here."

Giraud dominates in the final of the world championships with a clear goal: Paris 2024
Rayssa Leal is crowned in Sharjah proving that his riding is at another level.
Last Sunday February 5th took place the final of the Olympic Qualifier and Skateboarding World Championship 2022 Street category, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, which has also distributed some valuable points to travel to Paris 2024, where there are only 22 vacancies for the best riders on the skateboard.
Sarhah, has been the obligatory stop of the world skateboarding to walk to Paris, a magnificent competition that has left a good skate handling under a sun of justice.
Aurelien Giraud climbs to the top of the podium with an epic performance.
In the men's category, the gold medal was won by Frenchman Aurelien Giraud, who, with two competitors left to compete, secured first place with a total of 269.33 points. Giraud was off the podium, but it was then when on his fourth best trick attempt he scored a textbook Backside 360 kickflip with a 91.48 score that crowned him as world winner.
He was followed by Portugal's Gustavo Ribeiro with 267.38 points, who landed some bangers like the 360 flip noseblunt nollie bigspin on the Aljada skatepark main handrail.
Also on the podium with a third place finish was 12-year-old Japanese rising star Ginwoo Onodera with 263.04 points. Ginwoo got the best score in the semifinals with a crazy level, making it clear that he just needs to gain a little more experience to become the perfect skater. If he keeps it up this kid will be unbeatable.
[gallery size="large" columns="2" ids="4664,4666"]
Rayssa makes an exhibition by winning again a world
championship with a wrist injury.
In the women's contest, Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Rayssa Leal was crowned champion even after suffering a right wrist injury earlier in the week while practicing, forcing her to compete with a wristguard.

- Six junior competitions and four Spanish championships in BMX, Scooter, Skate and Skate Bowl were held this weekend.
- The young talents have demonstrated their full arsenal of tricks at the MUS
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Local talent was on show at the Madrid Río-Matadero facilities, under the umbrella of the Spanish championships and
six junior competitions of Breaking, Skate Bowl and the
Hotwheels Superchargers competitions:
BMX,
Skate and
Scooter.
The
Spanish Women's BMX Championship was the first to be contested, with
Teresa Fernández revalidating her Spanish Championship title and taking the jersey under the watchful eye of her opponents in the BMX Women C1 category. Miguel Jodar snatched the Spanish championship from Daniel Peñafiel, the rider who had held the lead for three years in a row.
The Junior BMX riders demonstrated the great projection of the discipline, under the watchful eye of
Daniel Dhers and the president of the Spanish Federation, Alejandro Martín.
Javitxu de la Torre took gold,
Pau Sala and
Marc Díaz completed the podium.
The
CNS and the
Spanish Skating Federation presented at the Madrid Urban Sports the National
Under 16 SkatePark and Street Circuit at the first stop of the circuit, in collaboration with the brand Hot Wheels Superchargers Fueled by Urban World Series.
The Spanish
U16 championship proved that Spanish talent can also make it to international competitions.
Afrika Criado won the
gold medal in the U16 championship and, hours later,
added the MUS silver medal to her neck.
Guillermo Sánchez, was crowned champion of Spain, after a spectacular round, all his teammates shook him, recognizing all his effort. In the Spanish Skate Bowl Championship,
Peio González was crowned champion in the men's category, while
Naia Laso was crowned U16 champion in the women's category.
In the Scooter category, a pre-qualifier for the international competition was held:
Alejandro Domínguez, swept the
Scooter Park category and, on the other side of the park,
Marc Fernández was crowned Spanish Scooter Street champion. Junior talent also had a starring role at the Hotwheels Superchargers where Harriet Portugal was crowned
Scooter Park championship.
On
Sunday, the Breaking returned to assault the Urban Stage, this time, with the
FEBD Gold Series, one of the most complete days with the Spanish championships in
5 categories:
Kids,
Junior,
U21,
BBoy and
BGirl. A demonstration of all the talent that the breakers of our country have. Teo won the Kids championship and Samuel F the Junior championship. Meanwhile, Romeo won the first prize in the Under 21 and Raw Law BGirl category. The Bboy champion, Mini Joe, along with Lil Dami, won gold and silver medals and a ticket to participate in the BC Red Bull Spain final.
The winners of the absolute categories, after winning the championships in Spain, dream of being part of the group of Olympic athletes who will travel to Paris 2024.
A weekend where the Spanish sport and its respective championships have also been protagonists in the Madrid Urban Sports. The Madrid Río-Matadero facilities have been able to certify that urban sports have a long way to go and that young people are joining the most emerging sports of the moment.

- Lucas di Meglio becomes two-time MUS Scooter Park champion
- Esteban Clot shines with his drops in Scooter Park
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Sunday afternoon was dominated by the scooters, the central and the street parks experienced two exciting finals where epic tricks were seen that left all the park's visitors speechless.
The madness was unleashed when Esteban Clot, the winner in the category, surprised all the spectators with his now typical drop trick, which he landed perfectly on two occasions. The Frenchman did a perfect first round, where he was delighted with all the elements of the module, sliding and showing the quality of his tricks. Jordan Clark, reigning world champion, could not take the gold medal because he did not iron some tricks. It was not the Briton's afternoon, even though he tried to replicate the triple flair he achieved not long ago, being the first person in the world to do so.
Alex Pérez Ortuño won the bronze medal after two rounds performed to perfection, the Spaniard took the medal to the amazement of his opponents thanks to his incredible technique and tricks.

The scooter moved to the Street to offer even more spectacle with the Scooter Park final. Almost a thousand people came to see the champion, Lucas di Meglio revalidating his title as MUS champion in the Scooter Park category. This feat makes him the first two-time champion of the biggest urban competition in Madrid.
[gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="4367,4363"]
Jonathan Perroni won the silver after one of the tightest rounds in the park in recent memory, demonstrating his skill with perfectly ironed tricks and challenging Di Meglio to replicate his tricks. Guifré Obradors took bronze with two very solid rounds and some perfect tricks in the trick round.

- Justin Dowel and 'Maligno' complete the podium

Kieran Reilly, the first rider in the world to perform a triple flair has conquered the central park of Madrid Urban Sports after doing a totally impressive first round that has amazed the more than hundreds of people who crowded in the final. The Brit, with a very marked style with modern and risky tricks, stood out from the rest with his typical double flair perfectly executed, reaching more than 90 points in the final of the MUS 94.33.
The Briton said after the event that
"I knew I had to pull out my best tricks to be on the podium because the level at the MUS has been so high. The round was almost perfect and with the triple I'm going home with the gold, very happy and looking forward to more BMX in Madrid in 2023".

Second place went to
Justin Dowell, who was true to his style and showed all the technique he has in all the elements of the park. Third place went to
José Torres 'Maligno', a real whirlwind on the bike who earned a standing ovation from the crowd for his perfect rounds with a lot of grit.
With the victory of Kieran Reilly, this second edition of BMX in Madrid Urban Sports closes with spectacular rounds, impossible tricks, and they march with their bikes to Paris to delight us in the French capital with their tricks.

A heated Central Park was the stage where over 50 BMX and Scooter riders attended to win one of the valued tickets for the finals, seats were sold out at a high price and the crowd enjoyed the semifinals with rounds and tricks deserving of the best finals.
In BMX the level was very high and many of the athletes showed some of the aces they had up their sleeves in order to be among the 12 chosen to compete today in the final. Jose Torres also known as Maligno was the great dominator of the day. With rounds with a lot of power, and a spectacular repertoire of tricks, the Argentinean flew one metre higher than all his rivals on every obstacle in Central Park, giving him a final score of 94.67.
Croatia's Marin Rantes and Olympic bronze medallist Declan Brooks qualified second and third respectively and confirmed that they are two strong contenders to unseat Torres for gold in today's grand final. Mr. Daniel Dhers, the crowd favourite, took fourth place and is still in the running for a place on the podium at Madrid Urban Sports 2022.
[gallery columns="2" size="full" ids="4276,4284"]
World Champion dominates the constest:
British rider Jordan Clark was the great dominator of the scooter park semifinals and moved like a fish in water in each of the ramps of the monumental construction. Flow and power defined each of his two 45-second rounds in Central Park, which combined with tricks such as the cashroll in the funbox or the double flair, propelled him to first place in the standings with a score of 81.00.
His teammate Jaime Hull, who comes to defend the gold medal he won in 2021, followed him closely showing that he will not make it easy for Clark to win. Combinations of whip and rewinds added with some bombs like the double flair gave the Briton 75.87 points. The third place in the semifinals went to Esteban Clott. The French juggler was stylish in each of the semifinal rounds, watch out for the one who can make the surprise in the final.

- More than 100 participants of 25 nationalities battled to win the first Olympic points
- Xak in the Bboy category and Madmax in the BGirl category were the winners of the day
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The
Urban Stage was the first event towards the Olympic Games in the Breaking modality, dozens of onlookers crowded around it amazed by the technique, acrobatics and impossible steps performed by the breakers.
Spain's
Juan de la Torre, better known as
Xak, is one of the best known
BBoys in Spain and on Saturday at Madrid-Rio he proved why: he won the gold medal at the MUS, revalidating his title from last year.
Xak has done a spectacular session and afterwards, with his medal on his chest, he declared that
"the level has been very high this edition of Madrid Urban Sports, you can tell that the event is getting a name because there were many international participants so the battles have all been very hard because I compete against people much younger than me although at 35 years old I feel in great shape".
This former lawyer who left everything for breaking has been categorical about the inclusion of his sport in the Olympic Games stating that "it has been a revolution in our world, I used to train where I could and now we are with the federation in the CAR with physios, coaches, something that was unthinkable before".
[gallery columns="4" size="large" ids="4254,4260,4252,4258"]
The silver medal was won by the Belgian Max, who was unstoppable and with a very marked style, the bronze medal was won by Mini Joe, one of the favourites for the Paris Games, who gave off fire in his movements.
For her part, the Belgian Madmax won in the BGirl category against her compatriot Camine and still with bated breath declared that it had been "a crazy day, on the one hand because of the heat, and on the other hand the atmosphere was the best and allowed me to express what I wanted and the organization has done everything to make it a success and we could dance to the maximum, so I take a great memory of Madrid".
The Urban Stage does not rest and tomorrow the Spanish Breaking Championship will be held where we will be able to see the two times MUS champion, Xak and the BGirls of the moment: Ana 'Furia' Ortega and Law.

I would be very happy to take home a medal in both disciplines. It's something I've been working towards since the last World Championships in Argentina. It won't be easy, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Winning a medal at the first ever women's street world championships was an incredible experience. To be able to share the podium with my best friend and Ethic DTC teammate Josephine Zagorski was something I will never forget. That motivates me to keep dancing day by day. But the most important thing for me is how it makes me feel, the smile I get every time I step in the room.

- The promising young breakers will battle it out in the FEBD GOLD Series in the Kids, Junior and Under 21 categories.
The Olympic dream of the Bboys and Bgirls is about to become reality. Only the 32 best in the world, 16 Bboys and 16 Bgirls, will have the privilege to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics and take Breaking to the highest level.
In the fourth edition of Madrid Urban Sports, a very important championship will be held for the Olympics. It is the
Breaking for Gold International Series, an unmissable event for international athletes. The Urban Stage will be the stage for epic battles where Bboys and Bgirls from all over the world will battle it out to win valuable points in this championship supported by the World
Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) and the
Federación Española de Baile Deportivo.
Some of the best participants in the Breaking For Gold International Series are from home. We have
Xak, Ana 'Furia' and the amazing Lola, who is the youngest of them all and is making her mark. These kids are working their socks off to make their way to Paris and realise the impossible dream of taking home an Olympic medal - they are a sight to behold![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="5781" img_size="large" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]On the 16th, 17th and 18th of June the action will be unleashed at the Urban Stage in Madrid Río. Friday 16th will be the day of training and preparation for the competitions that will take place during the weekend. On Saturday 17th, after a selection in the morning, there will be two more competitions: the top 64 and the top 32. Everything to get to Sunday with top level finals.
Sunday 18th will be finals day in Madrid Urban Sports, and the Urban Stage will vibrate with the top 16, followed by the grand final with the 8 best Breaking athletes of the whole competition. It will be an intense final! The participants will have to show their best steps in a totally improvised way. It is the DJ who chooses the rhythm, and they will have to let themselves go. That's why in Breaking, no matter how much they practice, no two performances will ever be identical!
On Sunday, after a short break for lunch, all the participants will be able to discover the new promises of Breaking in a special stop of the FEBD at the Madrid Urban Sports. There will be a championship with
U21, Kids and Junior categories, where the young talents will be able to show their skills in one-on-one battles. So get ready for a weekend full of action, adrenaline and music at Madrid Urban Sports.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]"

- Street Plaza is inspired by two of Madrid's legendary skate spots
- Central Park has some real wonders that will make riders fly through the air
This is what the parks of Madrid Urban Sports 2023 will be like! The fourth edition of the event will be held from 16 to 18 June in Madrid Río with the World Scooter Championships, Breaking For Gold International Series, BMX C1 and an international skate competition.
From Madrid Streets to MUS:
Looking closely at the Street Plaza, the space that will host the scooter street and skate competitions, the public and riders will find a close relationship between the spaces and the city of Madrid. These sports are still rooted in the place where they were born, the streets of the city, and that is why we wanted to pay tribute to essential places with the new modules incorporated.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="5768" img_size="large" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]Participating in the Movistar Open Qualifier is a unique opportunity for emerging skaters. In the last edition, twenty participants competed for a place in the Madrid Urban Sports. With the animation of the famous speaker Kini Gonzalez, the audience was amazed by the incredible tricks of the competitors. Sergio Muñoz stood out from the start with an impressive nosemanual flip out, showing impeccable technique and no mistakes.

Rayssa makes an exhibition by winning again a world
championship with a wrist injury.

The Brazilian is on another level, and earned the gold after taking Best Trick with her kickflip front side boardslide (85.04) and her main trick, a kickflip backside lipslide (87.22) that earned her a total of 255.58 points.
Second place was for the 12-year-old Australian Chloe Covell with 253.51 points, the future of women's skateboarding who introduced a very powerful round, switch flips and frond side flips in the triple tier.

[gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="4357,4355"]

Relive the finals here:
